KOSGEB promotes Helal Expo in Istanbul on 25-28 November, is a stand worth it for SMEs?
Helal Expo and the 12th World Halal Summit bring the food, cosmetics, textile, health, tourism, education and finance sectors together at the Istanbul Expo Center on 25-28 November 2026 (KOSGEB, updated 5 August 2026). The event is coordinated by SMIIC and other bodies of the OIC, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, with support from Türkiye’s Ministry of Trade and the Halal Accreditation Agency, HAK. KOSGEB, Türkiye’s Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization, shares the event but states no application deadline and no participation support.
What it means for you: an SME that wants to sell into halal markets can meet buyers in one hall without leaving the country. The fair is still ahead and the window has not closed, but the official texts give no registration cut-off. So you set the calendar yourself: certification status, samples, catalogue and stand budget need to be settled before November.
When and where is Helal Expo 2026, and is there an application deadline?
The fair runs on 25-28 November 2026 at the Istanbul Expo Center. The KOSGEB announcement, the promotional document and the text TİM, the Turkish Exporters Assembly, sent to exporters give the same date and venue, and none states an application deadline. As of 13 October 2026 the fair is still ahead. The official details sit in KOSGEB’s Helal Expo announcement.

Can SMEs attend Helal Expo with KOSGEB or state support?
The KOSGEB announcement mentions no participation support, free stand or discount. The TİM text says Helal Expo 2026 is among the prestigious domestic fairs supported by the Ministry of Trade, but it states no rate and no legal basis. A support badge in the promotional document does not say who it covers or for which costs, so assume no rate.
Which SMEs does Helal Expo affect, and how?
In Istanbul in autumn 2026, food, cosmetics and textile producers feel the most direct effect, because the fair’s sections are built around those product groups. For SMEs doing contract manufacturing or selling online, the private label and e-commerce sections matter too. Health, tourism, education and finance businesses are among the target sectors as well.

Should a producer without halal certification open a stand at Helal Expo?
In most cases, certification first and stand second is the healthier order. Support from HAK and SMIIC puts halal certification at the centre of the event. A stand without certification can draw visitors, but purchase talks stall on the certificate question. If your certification is under way, visiting is a sensible middle step to see buyer expectations first hand.
What should your website, search and marketplace presence prepare before Helal Expo?
A buyer who takes your business card at the fair looks at your website that same evening. If the site has no English product page, certificate details or contact form, the conversation goes cold right there. The fair’s e-commerce section shows the digital shop window is now an extension of the stand.
What should an owner considering Helal Expo do this week?
Four jobs can be finished this week: ask the organiser in writing for the registration cut-off and a stand quote, settle your halal certification status, update your export catalogue and check the English product pages on your site. Reading the exhibitor support terms on the Ministry of Trade list is also this week’s work.

Sık Sorulan Sorular
When no date is published, the safe assumption is that registration can close at any moment. Getting the date from the organiser in writing saves you from a last-week surprise.
The promotional document gives [email protected] as the contact address. The phone number in the document looks merged and incomplete, so it is not shared here. Send your questions point by point in one e-mail.
According to the TİM text, the fair is held under the high patronage of the Turkish Presidency, and the name Discover Events appears in the contact details. The organiser’s official company title does not appear on the KOSGEB page. At contract stage, confirm the legal entity you are dealing with from the invoice.
KOSGEB announces the event; it does not fund participation. Its support programmes run through separate applications with separate terms. You can see that distinction in our grants and incentives news archive, where current programmes are collected.
Here’s something most people don’t know: the Ministry of Trade’s fair page publishes a list of sector-specific domestic fairs taken into its support scope. Which costs an exhibitor can claim, and on what terms, should be read from that page and the related regulations.
Run your sums with support set to zero; if it is confirmed later, count it as a bonus. Keep stand, samples, freight, accommodation and staff days as separate lines. The stand price is not in the official texts, so ask the organiser for a quote.
A food or cosmetics producer with halal certification ready and an export catalogue has the edge. Country business forums for Yemen, Oman, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Palestine give producers aiming at those markets a ground for targeted meetings. The modest fashion section is a direct shop window for clothing makers.
A producer whose certification is still in progress, or not yet started, will struggle. When a buyer asks for a certificate number and gets no answer, the deal does not close and the product just sits on the shelf.
Packaging, labelling and logistics firms move with the demand of their halal-producing customers.
You see competitors’ product ranges, packaging language and price talk up close. You can sit in on the country business forums and note which market asks for which certificate.
In Türkiye, HAK runs halal accreditation, while SMIIC works on the standards side for OIC countries. Do not apply before asking buyers which certification body is recognised in your target market. That order saves you from paying twice; otherwise the certificate arrives but the till stays quiet.
Ask one simple question: does an order coming back from the fair fit your production capacity? If capacity, certification and samples are all ready, a stand makes sense. If one is missing, the stand money is wasted.
A separate page for each product group, planned with English and Arabic readers in mind, works well. State the certificate number, minimum order quantity and packaging options clearly on each page.
A buyer you meet at the fair searches for your brand name and for product names containing “halal”. Your Google Business Profile, product titles on your site and image descriptions should be ready for those searches.
The private label section lets an SME doing contract manufacturing meet brand-owning buyers. If you have a marketplace store, its product pages should carry the same information as your fair catalogue. A conflicting price or pack weight damages trust before it ever touches average basket value.
Ask about the registration deadline, the price per square metre, stand type and which section you will be placed in. Also confirm whether the country business forums need separate registration.
For each product you take to the fair, have a certificate copy, ingredient list and shelf life information ready. Plan sample quantities around the number of meetings in the country forums. For similar fair preparation, our SAPRI2026 piece on the spare parts fair in Tunisia and our piece on the IIFME invention fair in Kuwait also give checklists.
Give every meeting a number and get back with a quote or sample note before fair week ends. Post-fair offers need to be weighed together with customs and payment terms. We build that process with clients through our foreign trade consultancy.
The KOSGEB announcement mentions no participation support, free stand or discount. Check the terms of Ministry of Trade support on the ministry’s fair page.
The KOSGEB announcement, the promotional document and the TİM text state no deadline. Ask the organiser for the date in writing via [email protected].
Going as a visitor can help you see which certificates buyers ask for. To open a stand, having certification, samples and production capacity ready gives you a much healthier footing.
