Buyers Concentrate in the 25-34 Band: Is Your Site Ready for Mobile?
Your customer is not at a desk; they are standing. 📱 On a bus, in a queue, on the sofa in the evening. Small screen, short patience, unlimited alternatives. That is the condition under which they first meet your website — and most companies still design for a desktop monitor.
Turkey’s Ministry of Trade report, based on ETBİS data, also clarifies who that audience is: e-commerce spending concentrates in the 25-34 age band, with the share falling markedly above 50.
Who Is Buying, and How
Age concentration. Both volume and transaction count weight towards 25-34. This group is mobile-native; there is no habit of “I’ll look at it properly on the computer later”. First contact, decision and payment all happen on a phone.
Frequency. Total transactions reached 5.94 billion. 🛒 Shopping has moved from a deliberate act to a daily habit — and in daily habits, friction is fatal.
Category preference. Clothing, footwear and accessories lead by volume at 428.70 billion lira. In visual categories, mobile experience touches revenue directly.
“Works on Mobile” Is Not Enough
Most corporate sites function on mobile without having been designed for it. 🔧 The difference shows up in details: the menu opens but takes three taps, the form loads but the keyboard covers the field, the phone number is displayed but not tappable.
Four checks reveal whether a site is genuinely mobile:
- Is the phone number tappable? For local businesses it is the most-tapped element.
- Is the primary action on the first screen? If it requires scrolling, it is ignored.
- How many fields does the form require? Every extra field raises abandonment.
- How fast does the first screen load? Image weight is the usual culprit.
What It Means Commercially
Mobile experience is a revenue line, not an aesthetic preference. 💰 The same budget brings the same visitors; the difference appears in how many of them reach the form.
Measurement therefore comes first. Not how many visitors arrived, but how many tapped the phone number and how many completed the form. Design changes made without measurement are spending based on assumption.

Sık Sorulan Sorular
Responsiveness and mobile-first design are different. A responsive site shrinks; a mobile-first site is rethought for the small screen.
Spending weights towards 25-34, but your own customer data always takes precedence over national averages.
